The last few years it was good fun doing lots of different things, but now I think we need to become a bit more focused on what we’re really good at. I hope that being more focused will:
- allow us to plan projects and predict cost more reliably,
- make it easier to hire and train new employees,
- allow us to work on stuff we really like to do,
- reduce stress by no longer taking on projects we’re not really sure of we can complete successfully,
- make it easier to become more widely known in the web development and design community,
- identify projects we’re not going to make enough money from early on.
Simply put, we want to make our work a bit more enjoyable. ;-)
We design and develop websites and web applications. We keep the design simple, easy to use and as standard compliant as possible. We develop using dynamic languages like Ruby and Python and agile frameworks like Rails and Django. We follow pragmatic, light-weight methodologies like test-driven development, the Don’t-Repeat-Yourself principle, and some useful bits of eXtreme Programming.
Simply put, we want our stuff to make sense.
We’ll never be a full-service web agency. We do hosting, but only for projects we’ve developed ourselves. We’re no longer doing stuff like mailings, quick ’n dirty hacks, content management, and print design.
Kind regards,
